A million* reasons why you should own a Dilly Daydream shower cap

A million* reasons why you should own a Dilly Daydream shower cap

Unless you are one of those people who insists on or has to wash their hair every day, there are a million* reasons why you should own a Dilly Daydream shower cap.

Hair Care

The first and most obvious reason is to keep your hair dry; perfect if you are in a hurry and have no time to blow dry your hair; or perhaps you’ve recently had your hair “done” and want to preserve that expensive salon blow out just a little bit longer.

Probably most importantly though is the frequency of how often you wash your hair.  Experts tend to agree that you should do this no more than three times a week.  The natural oils which are produced to protect your hair are lost if you shampoo daily, causing an over production of oil and then a need to keep shampooing your hair.  Which is exactly what we are trying to avoid.

Skin Care

The next thing to consider in the shower is your face!  As the experts at Good Housekeeping remind us, washing your face in the shower should not be part of your beauty routine.  The good news is that the large frill on a Dilly Daydream shower cap is not just there to flatter your face, it is also there to protect it from the perils of shower water.

Not just a pretty face

Next, you want to look gorgeous.  No-one wants to be disturbed in the bathroom whilst wearing a plastic disposable hotel shower cap.

Then there is the décor to consider.  A Dilly Daydream shower cap will look just as pretty hanging up to dry as it will on you.  It is not something to be hidden away in shame in the bathroom cabinet and is the perfect colourful addition to a room full of lotions and potions.

In the pool

Finally, you might like to consider a Dilly Daydream shower cap as a bathing cap.  Whilst we don’t suggest it will stay on your head whilst diving in off the 10m board, it will certainly keep your hair dry whilst doing some gentle lengths and protect it from harmful splashes of chlorine.  Rather than squashing you hair into a tight latex swimming cap, pop on a Dilly Daydream creation; made to a generous size it won’t leave an unsightly elastic mark on your forehead.

For these many reasons, a Dilly Daydream shower cap is a very practical purchase.  But who says practical has to be boring?

*weren’t we all reprimanded as children for exaggerating?!

What’s not to love about lavender?

Used to treat a range of ailments such as insomnia, migraines and joint pains, the aroma of lavender has a relaxing effect on the body as well as the mind and soul. It has a multitude of culinary uses and to top it all, lavender plants are an excellent way of attracting butterflies and bees in to the garden.

The simple aroma of lavender can aid relaxation.  Breathing in the scent of lavender lowers the heart rate helping you to drift off.  This is the reason we have chosen Cotswold lavender to put in our eye masks and soothing wheat wraps and why both have become part of our relaxation routine at the end of the day.

Did you also know that combining lavender and a shower cap can help combat dandruff!?  Simply combine 15 drops of lavender oil with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, warm it in the microwave and massage it in to your scalp.  Pop on a shower cap and leave for an hour before shampooing out.  After a few treatments, you should start to see the results.

Lavender is not just for the medicine cabinet though.  Why not try incorporating the leaves and flowers of lavender in to salads, vinegars, jellies, ice creams, soft drinks and cocktails?

Most importantly of all though…..bees LOVE lavender and as we all know, bees as pollinators, are vital to our food chain.  What’s not to love?

Vintage Rose lavender eye mask – the gift of a perfect night’s sleep

Vintage Rose lavender eye mask – the gift of a perfect night’s sleep

What’s not to love about a lavender eye mask?  They promote a good night’s sleep, they soothe away tension, help banish headaches and block out the light.  We’ve even heard that they can reduce snoring! What better gift to give a friend?

And now with our new Vintage Rose lavender eye mask, you too can be a sleeping beauty. Trimmed in pink satin, backed in soft velvet with a comfortable but elegant wide lace elastic, this is, in our opinion, a must have for anyone looking for a perfect night’s sleep.

Unlike some more gimmicky sleep masks available, this won’t scare off any suitors and there are no fiddly ties that will come undone in the night.

This eye mask is the latest creation in the Dilly Daydream Vintage Rose range.  If you are looking for gift ideas, why not team up with a luxury shower cap, towelling turban or a cute drawstring wash bag, a perfect size toiletry bag for a cheeky weekend away.

The Beauty of a Towelling Hair Turban

We added towelling hair turbans to our range because we really liked the ease of popping them over wet hair, post shower, rather than twisting (and therefore damaging) damp hair into a heavy damp towel, balanced on top of our heads. They are incredibly lightweight but cleverly still manage to stop those annoying drips from running down the neck.

However, in a very short space of time they have come to mean so much more to us than just a drying device. So much so that on the days when we do wash our hair, we just don't want to take our turbans off!

You see towelling hair turbans really do gently and effectively dry your hair. They can be worn for long periods before you need to style your hair, and it would seem the longer you wear them, the softer your hair actually feels when styling.  Plus your locks seem to behave much better under the brush.  Not only that, but towelling turbans pretty much halve the styling time which saves you time and avoids exposing your hair to any more heat from the dryer than necessary. Which means less hair damage and therefore happier hair.

Add some treatment, a serum or the latest discovery Argan oil and you can almost hear your hair thanking you when you give it half an hour under your turban.  Remove your turban, 5 minutes of styling time and hey presto, beautifully soft tresses doing exactly as they're told.

So it's not surprising that we sold out of our original batch of turbans in as little as six weeks. And not surprising that we've had some fantastic feedback from our customers. You've worn them whilst enjoying a trip on the coast to stop the wind and sea salt whipping your hair up into a matted tangle.  You've found them really useful to keep your hair off your face when putting on your make up. Or you've just used them to keep your hair frizz free and out of the way in the hot tub. But our favourite story is the lady who has grown so attached to hers that she's quite content to wear it whilst putting the bins out.  It'll only be a matter of time before we'll all be sashaying down the aisles at Sainsbury's looking like Grace Kelly.

Lavender’s new

Lavender’s new

Lavender’s blue, dilly, dilly, lavender’s green When I am king, dilly, dilly, you shall be queen A colour; a plant; a scent. The healing properties of lavender have been well known for thousands of years. Used to treat a range of ailments such as insomnia, depression, migraines and joint pains, the aroma of lavender has a relaxing effect on the body as well as the mind and soul. A versatile plant, lavender has many culinary uses and was a particular favourite of Queen Elizabeth I who was partial to lavender conserve at breakfast time. Lavender plants are an excellent way of attracting butterflies and bees in to the garden.

Theo Paphitis

Dilly Daydream are honoured to have received a business boost from TV Dragons’ Den star Theo Paphitis.

On Sunday 10th March we tweeted Theo about our gorgeous shower caps during ‘Small Business Sunday’, an initiative set up by Theo that runs weekly on Twitter and were thrilled to discover the next evening that we had been selected as one of his 6 winners. All slightly overwhelming, but very very exciting.

Putting on your Corporate Hat

One of the nice things about the embroidery service we offer, is the opportunity to make hats for corporate customers. Here’s a couple of examples:

The Welsh Water was a great idea, encouraging you to shorten your showering time.

And Fenjal included their hats in their press packs which were snapped up immediately!

The embroidery company we use has the facility to match colours, logos and illustrations, so if you have a specific idea, please let us know and we’ll help work with you to create that extra-special shower cap or wash bag.
